Plant Manager Job Description

The Burke Group: Human Resources Specialists is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Manager to join their team. As a key member of the management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and productive work environment, promoting workplace safety, and maintaining product quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Promote a Safe Work Environment: Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
  2. Product Quality: Maintain product quality standards, ensuring all products meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
  3. Production Planning: Oversee production activities, ensuring they are in conjunction with the production schedule and meet customer demands.
  4. Team Leadership: Lead and manage production teams, setting direction and priorities to ensure efficient operations.
  5. Customer Deliveries: Oversee customer deliveries, ensuring timely and accurate processing to meet customer objectives.
  6. Process Improvements: Continuously look for opportunities to improve plant efficiencies, implementing process improvements and equipment effectiveness assessments.
  7. Employee Development: Evaluate employee performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve skills and productivity.

Management Responsibilities:

  1. Department Leadership: Manage department lead hands/supervisors, providing guidance and support to ensure effective team performance.
  2. Employee Performance: Perform employee performance evaluations, addressing performance issues and developing corrective action plans.

Qualifications:

Education:

  1. Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Business is preferred.

Experience and Skill Set:

  1. Must have experience in machining and/or welding.
  2. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  3. 5-10 years of experience is an asset.
  4. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and product specifications.
  5. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Solid Works, and 3D modeling is an asset.
  6. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, blasting, and painting.
  7. Must be able to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment.
  8. Always represent the Company with integrity in an ethical and legal manner.
  9. Be a change agent and self-starter motivated by a fast-paced environment.
  10. Deep knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Google Sharing Docs, Word, Outlook); working knowledge of ZOOM and Microsoft TEAMS is an asset.
  11. Knowledge of ISO 9001, AWS, and CWB procedures is an asset.
