Due to an expanding portfolio, we are seeking an Eastern Canada Geotechnical Lead to join our vibrant and growing team focused on landmark infrastructure initiatives.
This role is pivotal in our Canada Unit, based in Toronto, and will involve strategic leadership in geotechnical practices. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in geotechnical design and oversight across various domains, including transportation infrastructure, excavations, tunnels, water and wastewater management, energy projects, pipelines, ports, and other essential infrastructure endeavors.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee and deliver ground exploration initiatives, geotechnical design and analysis, technical documentation, and design assessments across transport, water, energy, and advisory sectors.
- Lead and mentor a team of geotechnical engineers to execute investigations, geoseismic assessments, and design projects.
- Foster relationships with internal and external clients, collaborating with other engineering disciplines and project managers.
- Direct proposal development and compile geotechnical submissions for diverse infrastructure projects.
- Manage subcontractors and subconsultants to facilitate geotechnical investigation services, including drillers, utility locators, surveyors, and laboratories.
- Engage with the geotechnical community in Ontario, particularly within the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).
- Coordinate with the Canada Geotechnical Lead to strategize and oversee the recruitment of new personnel, identifying team gaps and planning for future growth.
- A solid academic foundation with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (a Master's degree is advantageous).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- Over 15 years of relevant experience in geotechnical consultancy (excluding educational experience), with familiarity in working with local transportation and infrastructure agencies considered beneficial.
- Experience or qualifications for registration in MTO's Registry Appraisal and Qualifications System (RAQS) for medium or high complexity geotechnical engineering and tunneling is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities; capable of effective collaboration with all staff levels and clients, nurturing junior staff development.
- Proficient technical skills in geotechnical investigations, geoseismic evaluations, and design, including familiarity with geotechnical software (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio, Rocscience, Ensoft).
- Demonstrated capability and enthusiasm for supervising others, including reviewing and approving key deliverables.
- Proven project management skills with strong technical leadership and collaborative abilities.
