What Awaits You?

In collaboration with Ontario Power Generation, Aecon Nuclear is engaged in a significant contract to facilitate the construction of Canada's inaugural Small Modular Reactor as part of the SMR-X Project. Our role encompasses the validation phase, design, procurement, early site preparation, and site mobilization for the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor.

As the Lead Planner, reporting to the Project Controls Director, you will oversee all scheduling and planning activities, ensuring they are executed efficiently. Your responsibilities will include coordinating schedules, optimizing resource allocation, and maintaining project timelines. Close collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring project milestones are met successfully.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and uphold comprehensive project schedules, ensuring data integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct resource planning and analysis, forecasting labor, materials, and equipment needs based on work front analysis.
  • Analyze construction productivity and establish productivity benchmarks in collaboration with the construction team.
  • Prepare progress reports and dashboards to communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Monitor schedule variance, float, and trends, tracking key performance indicators.
  • Implement progress measurement processes and analyze performance data.
  • Manage schedule change notices and assess project impacts, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Audit schedules from subcontractors and prepare required documentation.
  • Integrate schedules from various partners and subcontractors to ensure seamless project activity sequencing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain and adjust schedule data and plans.
  • Conduct forensic analysis of project schedules, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the integration of schedule data with 3D models and cost outputs, including cash flow and sequencing simulations.
  • Assist in project change management, including subcontractor claims and dispute resolution.
  • Identify commercial and scheduling risks, developing mitigation strategies to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
  • Contribute to the Monte Carlo risk analysis process and assist in the Risk Mitigation Plan.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop project controls personnel.

Your Qualifications:

  • A degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the infrastructure and construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning, scheduling, and managing complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management principles.
  • Proven leadership skills in project planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and accountability.
  • Expertise in project planning and scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and TILOS.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Hard Dollar, PowerBI, and Synchro is advantageous.
