Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to assume the role of Utility Systems Operator within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility. This position is crucial for ensuring the efficient operation of various utility systems that support our production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and oversee all utility equipment beyond the boiler house.
  • Ensure the continuous supply of essential utilities, including air, water, fire, and waste systems.
  • Manage cooling towers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, steam condensate collection systems, and emergency diesel generators.
  • Conduct daily operations in alignment with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
  • Utilize personal accountability to fulfill responsibilities as outlined in HSE programs.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to health and environmental regulations.
  • Diagnose issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Assist maintenance teams as necessary.
  • Issue safety work permits when required.
  • Keep detailed logs, operational data, and charts for compliance and record-keeping.
  • Ensure cleanliness and perform minor maintenance within the Utilities department.
  • Conduct additional testing, adjustments, and isolations as needed.
  • Monitor the integrity of area fire systems.
  • Respond to production support needs as a stationary engineer.
  • Perform water testing on wastewater and adjust chemical feed rates accordingly.
  • Address system issues promptly and effectively.
  • Facilitate communication with production shift supervisors and operating personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer license.
  • Experience with boilers, water and wastewater treatment, pumps, air compressors, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment, and emergency generators.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and respond to non-routine callouts.
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including climbing, walking, bending, and standing.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and respond to alarms.
