PML Sound International is seeking a talented and motivated Electronics Project Engineer to join our Ottawa team. This role offers a distinctive blend of technical and managerial responsibilities. Working under the senior Technical Project Manager, you'll gain firsthand experience overseeing a complex development program: the enhancement of our flagship AV Receiver product line. You'll be engaged in both technical and project management aspects of development, from writing tech specifications, through joint development of the product by the in-house engineering team and the overseas ODM partners, and up to validation of systems and complete products.

Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities include:
  1. Write detailed technical specifications for the product and its subsystems.
  2. Take part in designing, prototyping, experimenting, testing and optimizing circuits to achieve high audio performance.
  3. Help coordinate and assist with prototype functional and performance verification in a lab environment.
Managerial Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in managing the entire AVR development program from concept to mass production.
  2. Work closely with the technical project manager to coordinate activities of shared internal resources based on project schedules and priorities.
  3. Support the coordination between the company and the external ODM, ensuring deliverables are met on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  4. Review and provide feedback on design documentation, test plans, and engineering change orders.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, software, and test engineering teams, for seamless integration of components.
  6. Help in ensuring the program complies with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  7. Assist in identifying and mitigating program risks, including schedule, cost, and technical risks.
  8. Participate in product launch activities and support product ramp-up to mass production.
  9. Facilitate the documentation of technical and functional product requirements.
  10. Assist in maintaining a record of all project documentation.
  11. Monitor ECN changes after production.
  12. Provide ongoing technical support as required.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of hands-on electronics component level design experience.
  3. Experience using schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
  4. Experience designing and debugging analog and digital electronic circuits.
  5. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  6. Knowledge of the product development process.
  7. A successful candidate has experience bringing at least one product from conception to release through all phases.
  8. Familiarity with embedded systems development.
  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Strong problem-solving, organization, and analytical skills.
  11. Demonstrated leadership qualities and the desire to take ownership and be accountable.
  12. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage a wide range of tasks.
Preferred Skills
  1. Knowledge of audio electronics hardware.
  2. Familiarity with audio test methods and performance specifications.
  3. Experience with audio/video test equipment (e.g., Audio Precision).
  4. Knowledge of designing for reliability.
  5. Project Management Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  6. Experience working with external vendors, especially overseas.
  7. Knowledge of firmware and app development processes and tools.
  8. Certification in Project Management (PMP) is a plus.

Candidates who are interested in working in a dynamic environment that supports autonomy, creativity, and excellence are invited to apply in confidence.
