Chemical Engineer

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemist or Corrosion Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for performing chemistry and corrosion-related work in an engineering environment and preparing technical documents following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory guides.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform chemistry and corrosion-related work in an engineering environment and prepare technical documents.
- Lead or support improvement of materials and manufacturing processes through chemistry considerations.
- Establish and understand chemistry specifications for nuclear power plant systems to prevent degradation of components.
- Assess and evaluate the use of materials in nuclear systems, components, tooling, and construction.
- Support and consultation for manufacturing of nuclear components related to cleanliness, handling, corrosion protection, and inspections.
- Incorporate R&D results and products into the CANDU systems and new reactor designs.
- Conduct statistical analysis and modeling of test and plant data.
- Lead or support material degradation testing programs in a test lab environment.
- Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, fabricators, and stakeholders to execute assigned engineering work.
- Provide technical guidance and support and collaborate with other entities.
- Knowledge of process chemistry of nuclear power plants, including primary and secondary water-borne systems, and water radiolysis.
- Knowledge of degradation mechanisms impacting metallic and non-metallic materials in nuclear power plant environments.
- Experience using statistical/data analysis software.
- Basic knowledge of CANDU mechanical and process systems, structures, and components is an asset.
- Eligibility to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
- 5 to 10 years of related work experience in process chemistry or corrosion with specialization in nuclear power plant environments.
- Prior experience working in a lab/testing environment.
