Alberta Health Services is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Long Term Care team. In this pivotal role, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate and family-centered care within a Long Term Care setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking abilities to effectively plan, assess, implement, and evaluate care tailored to individual client needs. Excellent communication skills are essential for fostering positive relationships with clients and their families.
As a Registered Nurse, you will work autonomously, ensuring continuity of care while providing guidance, supervision, and mentorship to both regulated and unregulated staff. This position is particularly suited for individuals passionate about caring for elderly patients, including those with Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia. While recent experience in gerontology nursing and leadership training are advantageous, we offer training and professional development opportunities for successful candidates. New Graduate Nurses are encouraged to consider this position, which is eligible for the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
- Employ nursing processes that incorporate critical thinking, problem-solving, and informed decision-making.
- Educate, counsel, and advocate for patients and their families.
- Assume a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
- Ensure the provision of safe, high-quality, patient and family-centered care, aligning with the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.
Essential Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active registration or eligibility for a practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
- For those who have not practiced as a Registered Nurse in the past five years, completion of required courses is necessary.
Certification in a relevant specialty area, charge nurse experience, and prior leadership training are considered valuable assets.
