The Role
As a Senior Highway Design Engineer, you will be part of our Highway Engineering Team, which is responsible for delivering a wide range of projects, including highway expansion and bridge replacements. Your primary focus will be on the technical aspects of project delivery, utilizing InRoads/OpenRoads software and other design tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and draft engineering/construction drawings for various projects.
- Interpret and implement standards from regulatory bodies.
- Produce written reports, meeting minutes, and project correspondence.
- Produce design spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
- Create plans, profiles, and design quantities in Civil 3D, InRoads, and Open Roads Design format.
- Enhance data charts and tables for presentation.
- Prepare and check contract tender item quantities.
- Prepare tender documents and costs estimates.
- Maintain positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Complete initial site inspections/field work for design assignments.
- Stay current on the latest design tools and aids in CAD/civil 3D/Microstation/InRoads/Open Roads Design in consultation with senior CAD staff.
Requirements
- Completion of a college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in highway design, including MTO design.
- Excellent reputation working with MTO and local municipalities.
- Experience with InRoads/Open Roads Design software.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Well-developed computer and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and time management.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle that has valid registration and insurance.
