About the Job:

The Perinatal Nurse Specialist:

•Delivers high-quality patient care in a dynamic perinatal clinical setting, utilizing expertise in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of client care.

•Collaborates effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal patient outcomes.

•Empowers clients and their families to take an active role in their healthcare, providing education and support to promote informed decision-making and self-management.

•Demonstrates a deep understanding of nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities, applying this knowledge to inform practice and improve patient care.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights, rotating from 07:30 to 19:30, 19:30 to 07:30 hours.

About this Location/Unit:

Kelowna General Hospital's Women's and Children's Services Department is a major referral centre for Interior Health. With five birthing rooms and 22 obstetrical beds, it sees 1,650+ deliveries a year. The department operates 24/7 with three RNs in labour and delivery and four RNs in Antepartum/Postpartum/Gyne Surgery at any given time.
