Fire Protection Designer

The Opportunity:

As a Fire Protection Designer at WSP, you will be responsible for designing and reviewing fire protection and life safety systems on building projects in the public and private sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and site review of fire protection and life safety systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering drawings and specifications for fire protection sprinkler systems.
  • Coordinate with project teams, external vendors, and other engineers and architects.
  • Execute directions as provided by engineers and management.
  • Communicate engineering design concepts to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Occasional local travel may be required.

Requirements:

  • Related Bachelor of Engineering degree or Engineering Technology diploma.
  • 3 to 5 years of fire protection and life safety experience.
  • Knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of NFPA, FM Global, Building and Fire Code Standards.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • French language proficiency is an asset.

Eligibility for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance is mandatory.
