Role Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Talent Acquisition & People Development, the Talent Acquisition Consultant will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure a fair and equitable hiring process for both unionized and non-unionized roles. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all facets of the recruitment process, including job posting creation, application screening, interview facilitation, and job offer extensions;
- Conducting comprehensive intake meetings with hiring managers to ascertain role specifications, discuss sourcing strategies, and finalize screening and assessment criteria;
- Ensuring compliance with legislative, collective agreement, policy, and best practice standards within the recruitment portfolio;
- Fostering a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment and selection phases;
- Integrating equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives into the recruitment framework;
- Participating in the rollout of new strategic recruitment initiatives, including employer branding and promoting Brock University as a preferred employer;
- Identifying and recommending enhancements to the recruitment system to improve user experience and operational efficiency;
- Providing training for hiring managers on interview techniques and the recruitment module.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- A university degree in a relevant field such as business administration, psychology, communications, or social sciences, ideally with a focus on human resources management;
- Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment and a solid understanding of recruitment best practices;
- Familiarity with applicable acts, regulations, collective agreements, and customer service standards;
- Ability to interpret and provide recommendations in line with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices;
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle high workloads effectively;
- Commitment to principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion;
- Exceptional consultative, influencing, and negotiation abilities;
- Capacity to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality;
- Strong written communication and documentation skills;
- Ability to assess current processes and utilize metrics for improvement;
- Creativity in developing strategies for job advertising and branding.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Human Resources Professional (CHRP);
- Experience in a unionized setting;
- Familiarity with Workday HRIS.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Scale, K-level;
- Target Hiring Range;
- Fixed-term contract with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage;
- Eligibility for the Brock University Pension Plan;
- Up to three weeks of vacation per calendar year, plus university holidays;
