Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Product Definition Engineer to join our team at Power Integrations. As a key member of our IC design team, you will be responsible for defining and developing innovative power IC products with cutting-edge features.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in design verification testing and characterization of first sample ICs in the lab, including high-voltage GaN-based ICs.
- Implement simulation/emulations for new product definitions.
- Collaborate with the IC design team to ensure IC implementation meets system requirements.
- Provide detailed internal and external technical documentation on product definition and specification.
- Support the applications team to facilitate acceptance and design-in of Power Integrations IC products.
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering education background in a university.
- Deep understanding of power conversion topologies, including flyback, forward, PFC, and LLC topologies.
- Understanding of wide bandgap devices (SiC or GaN) characterization and performance comparison.
- Practical bench skills and confident user of lab equipment.
- Appreciation of cost/performance trade-offs in SMPS design for cost-sensitive, high-volume applications.
- Magnetics design knowledge and experience is preferred.
- Control loop theory and practice in the context of switch-mode power supplies.
- Good understanding of international EMC and electrical safety regulations and circuit techniques to achieve compliance at minimal BOM cost.
- Proficiency with software tools such as Matlab, Mathcad, Simplis/Simetrix, PLECs.
- Demonstrated ability to write accurate and concise technical documentation, including bench evaluations and simulation results.
