We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a Painter, you will be responsible for performing skilled painting work at the journeyman level, preparing surfaces for painting, and applying finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint and mending cracks, scraping, brushing, sanding, and/or burning off existing surfaces, and applying putty/plaster as required.
- Prepare paint and other finishes by mixing colours and/or paint ingredients and preparation.
- Remove wall hung items as required for painting and preparation and reinstalls upon completion of work.
- Apply other coverings to surfaces by cutting, pasting, and applying materials such as wallpaper, fabric, and/or vinyl.
- Prepare for work project by arranging work schedule with user departments and assembling required supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Perform general clean up, erect scaffolding as required.
- Review work requests and consult with user departments regarding specifications and other project requirements; interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications in order to determine the materials and equipment required; calculate materials and labour in estimating cost of projects and makes recommendations as required.
- Assign work tasks to designated staff and provides related training and orientation.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools; completes related reports and records; recommends purchase of related supplies and equipment.
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Painter and Decorator recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
- Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Providence Health Care must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
