About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our efforts in developing and implementing engineering excellence processes across our organization. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement, ensuring compliance and certification, and promoting open source engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engineering excellence processes and procedures to ensure high-quality software development and delivery.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams to achieve compliance and certification goals, working closely with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define and execute the company's vision for engineering excellence, driving cultural and process changes to support this goal.
  • Represent Canonical in front of customers, partners, and consortia, promoting our engineering excellence and open source practices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external working groups, committees, and partners to advance our engineering excellence and open source goals.
  • Work closely with our engineering teams to challenge and support them in implementing engineering excellence processes and practices.
  • Establish and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress towards engineering excellence goals.
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices, and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
  • Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment, with a proven track record of driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance and certification.
  • Experience in leading successful compliance and certification efforts, with a deep understanding of process and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge or certification addressing industry standards such as ISO IEC 9001, 25010, and 15504/SPICE.
  • Experience working on successful open source projects known for their demonstrated engineering processes.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
