Job Description

Job Title: Elementary Education Professional

Job Summary:

Sikh Academy Elementary School is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary Education Professional to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and social growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach all areas of the elementary curriculum, as per the BC Ministry Guidelines and the new BC Curriculum
  • Create a positive and caring learning environment
  • Integrate teaching practices and strategies that consider the new BC Curriculum
  • Plan, prepare, and present lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within their class
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Develop and implement positive classroom management strategies
  • Meet requirements for effective assessment of students' development (including record keeping)
  • Coordinate activities and resources and support colleagues in the delivery of the curriculum
  • Work with others to plan and coordinate work
  • Keep up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum and teaching strategies
  • Organize and take part in school events, outings, and activities that may take place outside school hours
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly
  • Work with parents and administrators to maximize opportunities for students
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities that may arise within the school and the capacity of the teacher within the TRB guidelines to provide enhanced learning opportunities for students

Requirements:

  • Completed education in North America
  • Professional Teaching Certificate valid in British Columbia
  • Fluent communication in English
