Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bilingual Regional Underwriter to join our team in Toronto. In this role, you will provide expert underwriting support to brokers and reinsurance companies, ensuring timely and accurate service within established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to brokers and clients by promptly addressing underwriting requests and inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Representatives, Managers, and colleagues to ensure the accuracy and quality of all documentation.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, determine appropriate premiums, policy terms, and conditions. Obtain necessary approvals and present compelling proposals to business partners.
  • Foster a strong team environment by actively participating in collaborative efforts and promoting best practices for operational efficiency.
  • Manage the underwriting process for both new accounts and renewals, adhering to company guidelines and procedures.
  • Represent HSB at industry events as a knowledgeable and professional ambassador.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting.
  • Completion of the CIP designation or enrollment in the program with an expectation of completion.
  • Fluency in both English and French, as this role involves communication with clients across Canada.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the P&C industry, underwriting principles, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a commitment to professionalism.
  • Marketing/sales experience is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and a collaborative team player attitude.
  • Self-motivated and highly driven individual.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
