Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a trades certificate or diploma in welding or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Work Environment

The role will be conducted in a dusty setting, typical of manufacturing and construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret welding process specifications accurately.
• Operate both manual and automated welding equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Examine welds to ensure compliance with standards.
• Utilize metal shaping and bending machines effectively.
• Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment.
• Assess the weldability of various materials.
• Handle hoisting and lifting equipment as required.
• Fabricate or repair metal components using welding machines.
• Install hardware such as doors and windows.
• Verify the accuracy of data and machined parts using precision instruments.

Materials and Techniques

Experience with the following materials and techniques is essential:

• Materials: Aluminum alloys, composite materials, stainless steel, steel, iron, and heavy metals.
• Welding Techniques: TIG and MIG welding.

Industry Experience

Prior experience in the following areas is preferred:

• Metal fabrication
• Manufacturing of metal products

Physical Requirements

This role requires:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Capacity to perform repetitive tasks.
• Physical stamina for demanding tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
• Capability to stand for extended periods and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to lift weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
