Job Description

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and upkeep of Langdon Hall's property, including machines, mechanical systems, buildings, and other structures. This role involves delegating tasks to subordinates, from painting and drywall repair to more complex activities like electrical, heating, and air-conditioning work. The successful candidate must be highly skilled and knowledgeable about a number of physical resources and how to fix or maintain them.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspecting the facility to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Checking electrical units to prevent malfunctions
  • Hiring and training maintenance professionals to ensure the team is equipped to handle various tasks
  • Ordering parts and equipment to maintain the facility's infrastructure
  • Recording daily maintenance activity to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Delegating work responsibilities to team members to ensure efficient task completion
  • Hiring and training new staff to ensure a skilled and knowledgeable team
  • Contacting service providers and contractors to address maintenance needs
  • Preparing work schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Performing essential and emergency repairs to maintain the facility's integrity
  • Assisting the Maintenance Helper with various tasks
Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders
  • Organizational and administrative skills to manage tasks and resources
  • Leadership skills to manage people and time effectively
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of plumbing and carpentry to perform maintenance tasks
  • Understanding of building and equipment maintenance to ensure the facility's infrastructure is well-maintained
  • Proficiency in using electrical and other tools to perform maintenance tasks
  • Understanding of computer applications to manage tasks and resources
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues to resolve maintenance problems
  • Understanding of blueprint and estimating needs to ensure accurate maintenance planning
  • Adaptability and self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team
  • Project management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prepare work schedules and record maintenance activity
