About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marketing Associate to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods Inc. as a Category Growth Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to develop strategies and act as the general manager of a business, working closely with an experienced Marketing leader to drive category growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a category portfolio and work with the Marketing leader to map out the category strategy.
  • Provide category reporting and analysis, and lead a cross-functional team to ensure strategic priorities and category plans are executed.
  • Balance creative skills with critical thinking, project management, and performance measurement.
  • Develop and implement multi-year plans to deliver category growth and differentiate Maple Leaf Foods from competitors.
  • Consistently leverage data and develop insights from Nielsen and internal data sources to provide category share and financial reporting and analysis.
  • Analyze brands, market, and competitive trends and recommend suitable actions.
  • Be involved and lead the category in the budgeting process.
  • Support the Retail Sales and Brand teams to grow Maple Leaf Foods branded share in the category.
  • Lead the commercialization of new product innovations, acting as project manager and working with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful, on-time launches.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in Business or Marketing.
  • 1-3 years previous experience in marketing, sales, advertising, finance, category management, or analytics roles within consumer packaged goods or grocery industry.
  • Passion and drive to learn and contribute, with a keen desire to win.
  • Agility, with the ability to stay focused on key business priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
  • Analytics and Critical Thinking, with the ability to organize and interpret data, synthesize insights, and consider implications to the business.
  • Ability to lead by influence, with well-developed people, communications, and collaboration skills.
  • Project management experience, with strong time management skills.
  • Previous experience with P&Ls and PowerBI an asset.
