Director, Pension Risk Management

Join Sun Life Financial, a leading global asset management firm, as a Director, Pension Risk Management. In this role, you will be responsible for driving value-added business analytics, optimizing enterprise-wide liquidity management processes, and providing visionary thought leadership to guide investment strategy reviews.
About the RoleAs a Director, you will be the linchpin connecting our SLC Portfolio Management, SLC Front Office/Finance, and Client (Sun Life) ALM & Risk Management teams. Your exceptional analytical prowess, strategic vision, and innovative mindset will be instrumental in driving business success.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement critical processes, including derivative collateral, pledging compliance, credit derivative usage, repo/reverse repo/securities lending program usage, and global cash management.
- Guide the development and enhancement of client portfolio-wide value-add business analytics, leveraging in-house tools to support daily portfolio management decision making.
- Provide unparalleled investment expertise and visionary strategic guidance to assist in investment strategy reviews across Sun Life's business groups.
- Coordinate discussions and ensure seamless alignment on centralized surplus investment strategies, driving unparalleled consistency in decision-making and actions across Sun Life's legal entities.
- Lead the quarterly process for reporting SLC investment performance to the Governance, Investment and Sustainability Committee (GISC), and lead the annual business and strategic planning activities related to asset supply.
We are seeking a highly experienced professional with a deep and comprehensive understanding of modern portfolio theory, asset pricing, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have:
- 7+ years of experience in insurance investment strategy or a related field.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Extensive knowledge of broad asset classes and a working knowledge of Sun Life's liability profiles.
- Proficiency in utilizing financial tools and software, such as Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, or Morningstar Direct.
