Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Equity Analyst to join our Global Health Care team at RBC Global Asset Management. This is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate to develop a deep understanding of financial markets in a dynamic and collaborative team environment, leading to a challenging and successful career in investment management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth fundamental analysis of Healthcare sub-industries and individual companies, focusing on financial performance, product end markets, competitive developments, and the evolving regulatory and reimbursement environment.
  • Conduct extensive primary research to gain insight into emerging trends in therapeutic and device treatment, as well as care delivery.
  • Participate in collaborative team discussions to generate investment ideas, contribute to portfolio construction, and support overall strategy development.
  • Develop and adapt financial models to evaluate company performance and assess valuation metrics, considering factors such as product cycles, new product adoption, growth projections, and operational costs using a scenario-based process.
  • Remain current on trends and specific events that might impact the outlook of industries and companies.
  • Foster relationships with company management, sell-side analysts, industry experts, and other stakeholders to gather proprietary information and enhance research capabilities.
  • Present investment recommendations to portfolio managers, articulating compelling investment theses and providing insights into potential risks and opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, life sciences, or a related field.
  • Direct experience in equity research, investment banking, or a related field, with a focus on an innovation-driven sector.
  • Self-starting with an insatiable desire to learn new, often complex, subjects.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, comparable company analysis (CCA), and precedent transactions analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment and contribute to a culture of excellence.
  • Genuine passion for the stock market and a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and its key drivers.
