Role Summary

This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of quantum materials through ultrafast laser spectroscopy. The successful candidate will engage in innovative research, contributing to the development of groundbreaking technologies and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and execute independent research projects focused on the optical characteristics of two-dimensional materials and van der Waals heterostructures.
  • Design, construct, and maintain specialized optical apparatus for ongoing and new research initiatives.
  • Oversee and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, guiding them in formulating research inquiries and analyzing experimental results.
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects, providing insights on equipment utilization and enhancements.
  • Publish findings in reputable scientific journals and assist students in developing their scientific writing and presentation skills.
  • Present research outcomes at international conferences and workshops.
  • Identify research results with commercial potential and lead the intellectual property and patent application processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of research activities and prepare reports to support institutional performance metrics.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A PhD in Physics or a closely related field, complemented by a successful postdoctoral research fellowship.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in research roles related to ultrafast laser spectroscopy and optical methods.
  • Extensive expertise in the study of two-dimensional materials using various optical spectroscopy techniques.
  • Experience in the design and operation of ultra-high vacuum systems.
  • Hands-on experience with laser systems and opto-mechanical construction.
  • A strong publication record in high-impact journals, demonstrating proficiency in scientific writing and peer review.
  • Experience in identifying intellectual property opportunities and managing patent applications.
  • Proven ability to mentor and instruct students and researchers.
  • Strong collaborative skills in a multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead independent research initiatives.
