PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Metrics
- Timely resolution of incidents.
- Accurate and prompt closure of all Work Orders.
- Execution of work orders in compliance with EHS policies.
Key Duties
- Engage in manual tasks and operate powered equipment safely (HV - 1500V and above).
- Implement power isolation processes and manage tag out/lock out operations (TPSS, OCS) for the rail system team and designated third parties.
- Hold a TPIP certification.
- Conduct all tasks in strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations as mandated by legislation and company policies.
- Assist in the maintenance of various assets (ventilation systems, security equipment, pumps, switches, etc.).
- Utilize computerized equipment and working manuals for task execution.
- Exchange or repair components of subsystem assets.
- Perform additional duties related to infrastructure assets as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.
- Participate in rescue or corrective operations in the event of an accident or major failure.
- Document activities (work orders/inspections) using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Oversee subcontractor operations.
- Attend regular team meetings.
- Review reports and manuals as necessary.
- Operate company vehicles when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with the Rail System Team during emergencies or extreme weather conditions to ensure operational continuity.
- Be available for night and weekend shifts.
- Share knowledge and skills with fellow team members.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Background
Required:
- Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Engineering Technologist.
- Master Electrician or equivalent experience - Red Seal (interprovincial/Canada wide).
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of OCS experience.
- Familiarity with Quality and Health & Safety standards.
- Possession of a G license is mandatory.
- Ability to work at heights, outdoors, and during nighttime hours.
- Understanding of the Rail/Vehicle operations environment.
- Completion of Level 2 training as specified in training requirements.
- Willingness to share knowledge and skills with others.
- At least 4 years of OCS experience as a power technician in the Ottawa LRT.
- High Voltage certification is highly recommended.
- Additional vehicle licenses (truck/trailer, etc.) preferably DZ or AZ.
- Conduct daily maintenance – both preventative and corrective.
- Notify the Supervisor of any identified issues.
- Ability to interpret As-built drawings.
- Strong planning and organizational skills; prioritizes daily tasks effectively.
- Adaptable and flexible; able to adjust to changing priorities.
- Comprehension of functional locations of infrastructure assets via service orders.
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to produce detailed and factual shift reports consistently.
- Provide detailed information when completing work orders.
- Capable of training (OJT) PTs on level 1 and 2 requirements.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
