About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Projects Officer to join our team at the University of Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of Indigenous curriculum and pedagogies across the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior leaders on promoting and embedding Indigenous pedagogies into university courses and programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase Indigenous knowledge and curriculum in university courses.
- Manage and resolve complex issues related to Indigenous education, working closely with various stakeholders.
- Organize and lead consultation activities to advance Indigenous initiatives and strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to advance projects and initiatives that support the university's Calls to Action.
- Conduct research and develop resources related to Indigenous ways of knowing and pedagogy.
- Design and deliver workshops and programming to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
- Develop evaluation models for existing and new programming.
Requirements:
- University degree required, professional or postgraduate degree an asset.
- Minimum six years' experience in project management and Indigenous community relations.
- Extensive experience in Indigenous knowledges and curriculum and education.
- Excellent understanding of the university's mission and intersection with broader Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of cultural protocols and ability to engage with local Elders and Indigenous communities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scholarship related to Indigenous education and decolonization.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and consultative decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
