Taseko Mines Limited, headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, stands as a prominent North American copper producer, recognized for its commitment to operational excellence, low energy consumption, and environmentally responsible practices.
The cornerstone of the Company’s operations is the Gibraltar copper mine, a long-life, low-cost asset located in British Columbia, which has garnered multiple awards for its environmental and safety achievements.
Gibraltar is a cutting-edge facility and ranks as the second largest open-pit copper mine in Canada, employing over 700 individuals.
Taseko is also progressing the Florence Copper Project in Arizona, a near-term copper producer distinguished by its exceptional energy, water, and GHG profile per production unit.
Once operational, Florence Copper is projected to yield 85 million pounds of copper annually over a 20-year lifespan.
The Yellowhead Project, a significant long-term copper initiative, was integrated into Taseko's development portfolio in 2019. The Company is currently preparing to commence the provincial and federal Environmental Assessment process for Yellowhead while advancing the necessary technical work to facilitate production.
Taseko's strategic vision is to sustainably and profitably expand through the development of high-quality, advanced-stage mineral assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit leadership with the utmost professional and ethical standards, ensuring all procurement activities are transparent and align with the organization’s policies and values.
- Oversee the request for proposal (RFP) process, which includes planning, preparation, and management of RFP documentation; analyzing and evaluating commercial proposals; managing technical evaluations; and negotiating commercial and legal terms on behalf of the organization.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, negotiation, and implementation of purchase orders for significant acquisitions and services.
- Assess business risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential exposure to the organization.
- Manage and finalize contracts as necessary.
- Possess advanced knowledge in complex procurement and tendering processes.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Exhibit strong time management and organizational capabilities, effectively multitasking across various projects.
- Possess advanced knowledge and understanding of contract lifecycle management.
- Experience in a mining or industrial construction setting is advantageous.
- A diploma or a business-related bachelor’s degree is required.
- Approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in sourcing, bid evaluation, selection, negotiation, and execution of diverse purchase agreements, preferably within the mining sector.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel is expected.
