Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide educational support to students with hearing impairments, working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure inclusive and effective learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in transdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized education plans for students with hearing differences
- Assess and interpret the implications of hearing differences on student learning
- Coordinate referrals for hearing assessments and provide support for students with hearing aids and other technology
- Provide professional development and consultation to teachers and paraprofessionals on inclusive practices and hearing support
- Model and promote self-advocacy for students with hearing differences
- Coordinate Kindergarten hearing screenings and referrals
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate
- Diploma or Master's degree in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or certified by the Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH)
- Recent classroom teaching experience (minimum 2 years)
- Valid BC Driver's License
- Fluency in American Sign Language (preferred)
Competitive salary range: $64,594 to $106,217, prorated to FTE. Placement on the grid is based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
