About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a key member of our care team, responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities and duties of those who deliver direct resident care. This role requires a strong clinical leader who can assess residents' needs, implement and evaluate individualized care plans, and provide direct care to residents as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Assess residents' needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities and duties of care staff
  • Provide direct care to residents as necessary
  • Liaise with physicians, community agency representatives, families, visitors, and volunteers
  • Support the move-in process and work collaboratively with other team members
  • Attend care conferences and ensure residents' rights are observed
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff
  • Coordinate and supervise care staff, direct their work, and assign duties as necessary
  • Provide clinical direction to community care staff
  • Fulfill clinical on-call duties as required
  • Perform community audits and correlate data to submit to the Director of Care or designate
  • Participate in orientation of new employees and provide educational material and direction on procedures
  • Actively participate in orientation of new staff, community programs, meetings, committees, and educational in-services
  • Maintain paper and electronic documents as per established standards, regulations, policies, and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
  • Graduate of an approved program for Nursing and holds a current license with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as an RN
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing an asset
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification and CPR
  • Successful annual Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) competency testing
  • Previous experience in a long-term care facility an asset
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Computer skills including the ability to navigate basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift, and carry up to 25 lbs
