Job Overview

JobContax is seeking to enhance its Process Design capabilities and is in search of a Process Engineering Department Lead to spearhead projects from our Dublin office. This pivotal position plays a crucial role in our operations.

As the Process Engineering Department Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing various phases of projects, from initial concept through to detailed design, primarily within the Biopharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical sectors. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  1. Guiding multiple project stages from concept through to detailed design.
  2. Providing support and mentorship to team members.
  3. Managing a diverse team of Process Engineers, from entry-level to senior professionals.
  4. Conducting performance evaluations and overseeing key performance indicators (KPIs).
  5. Managing project resources and continuous professional development for team members.
  6. Coordinating the Process Design Team to ensure project deliverables are met and design optimization is achieved.
  7. Ensuring the delivery of agreed design scope within budget and timeline constraints.
  8. Designing and specifying equipment and systems in compliance with current regulations and design standards.
  9. Engaging with suppliers for both standard and custom equipment.
  10. Preparing tender documentation for process equipment.
  11. Assessing tender bids from both technical and commercial perspectives.
  12. Providing technical insights for project proposals and the Process Design Team.
  13. Developing process solutions for new product introductions and projects.
  14. Taking responsibility for all project process deliverables.
  15. Performing process calculations, including hydraulic calculations and relief device sizing.
  16. Collaborating with client design teams and end users.
  17. Leading technical and safety reviews.
  18. Designing processes and utilities, including the preparation of PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment sizing calculations.
  19. Creating user requirement specifications (URS), functional requirement specifications (FRS), P&IDs, and other relevant project documentation.
  20. Ensuring design compliance with all applicable codes, standards, policies, and guidelines.
  21. Coordinating design efforts with other disciplines and equipment suppliers.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field (B.E. Hons. or higher).
  2. A minimum of 8 years of experience in Bio/Pharma/API Design.
  3. Familiarity with process safety engineering and management.
  4. Experience participating in HAZOPs and Design Risk Assessments.
  5. Substantial design experience within the Life Sciences sector.
  6. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  7. Demonstrated success in managing project delivery in a client-facing capacity for Equipment, Facility, and Utility design projects.
  8. Proven leadership skills in managing a team of process engineers.
  9. Dynamic and energetic with strong people management, interpersonal, and communication skills suitable for a project delivery environment.
  10. Extensive project management experience, successfully executing projects from inception to completion.
