Reports to: Water and Wastewater Treatment Operations Manager
Aquatera is dedicated to delivering high-quality, environmentally responsible utility services while maximizing value for our customers and stakeholders. We seek individuals who embody our values and are committed to excellence in their work and customer service.
We are currently in search of two Control Systems Technicians for our operations, which encompass a Class III water facility, Class IV wastewater facility, pumphouses, booster stations, lift stations, and additional sites in Alberta.
This dynamic role entails:
- Installing, maintaining, and diagnosing a diverse range of instruments, metering devices, analyzers, and control systems related to water and wastewater treatment and distribution/collection systems.
- Interpreting and revising P&IDs and control circuit diagrams.
- Integrating SCADA software (GE iFIX) with control systems.
- Maintaining PLCs, HMIs, and OT network equipment, including Allen-Bradley PLCs, SCADAPack, Red Lion HMI, Siemens PLCs, and other automation technologies.
- Assisting in the creation of documentation and standards.
- Being available for overtime as required, including responding to after-hours emergencies.
- Working independently and participating in the on-call schedule.
- Traveling and staying overnight at remote job sites may be necessary.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate must be legally authorized to work in Canada and will:
- Hold a Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, or;
- Possess Journeyman Instrumentation Technician Certification;
- Have Journeyman Electrician Certification as an asset.
- Bring experience in instrumentation and electrical controls.
- Have SCADA and PLC experience as an asset.
- Possess experience in water/wastewater treatment as an asset.
- Exhibit self-motivation, organization, and a strong focus on safety.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Show proven mechanical aptitude along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
- Be knowledgeable about best practices related to preventative maintenance systems.
- Consistently embody Aquatera's Values and Principles, while embracing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to:
- Provide a copy of a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Submit a driver's abstract that meets employer standards.
- Pass a 50 lb. fitness assessment.
- Successfully complete a comprehensive drug and alcohol screening.
