The cornerstone of Taseko's operations is the Gibraltar copper mine, a long-life, low-cost facility located in south-central British Columbia. This mine has garnered multiple awards for its environmental and safety standards, showcasing operational excellence. Gibraltar is the second largest open-pit copper mine in Canada, employing over 700 individuals and producing approximately 130 million pounds of copper and 2.5 million pounds of molybdenum annually, with mineral reserves projected to sustain operations for over two decades.

Additionally, Taseko is advancing the Florence Copper Project in Arizona, a near-term copper producer distinguished by its exceptional energy, water, and GHG profile per production unit. This innovative 'in-situ copper recovery' project is expected to significantly enhance Taseko's copper output, with a projected capacity of 85 million pounds annually over a 20-year lifespan.

The Yellowhead Project, added to Taseko's portfolio in 2019, is a substantial, long-life copper initiative located in the Thompson-Nicola region of BC. The company is currently preparing for the provincial and federal Environmental Assessment process while advancing necessary technical work to progress towards production.

Taseko's strategic vision is to sustainably and profitably expand through the development of high-quality advanced-stage mineral assets. We are seeking qualified candidates who are eager to contribute to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the highest professional and ethical standards in all procurement activities, ensuring transparency and adherence to organizational policies and values.
  • Oversee the request for proposal (RFP) process, including planning, preparation, and management of RFP documentation; assist internal stakeholders in developing Statements of Work (SOW); analyze and evaluate commercial proposals; manage technical evaluations; negotiate commercial and legal terms; recommend awards based on overall value; execute and finalize contracts; and ensure proper record management.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, negotiation, and implementation of purchase orders for significant acquisitions and services.
  • Evaluate business risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential exposure.
  • Present alternatives and solutions to address current or potential stakeholder issues.
  • Manage and conclude contracts as necessary.

Professional Experience / Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of complex procurement and tendering processes.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and diligence.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, capable of multitasking across various projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Advanced understanding of contract lifecycle management.
  • Experience in mining or industrial construction environments is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with union environments is a plus.

Education:

  • A diploma or a business-related bachelor's degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in sourcing, bid evaluation, selection, negotiation, and execution of various purchase agreements, preferably within the mining sector.
  • SCMP designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
