Job Title: Elementary Classroom Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary Classroom Teacher to join our team at the York Region District School Board.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting curriculum-related content to multiple elementary classrooms. They will apply current pedagogy to support student success and demonstrate excellent classroom management skills, organization, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver curriculum-related content to multiple elementary classrooms
  • Apply current pedagogy to support student success
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills, organization, and communication skills
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, staff, and parents in a welcoming manner
  • Implement effective strategies to engage and support academic success for all learners in an inclusive environment
  • Design and apply various assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress
  • Commit to professional learning and implement new methodologies and strategies to support a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience
  • Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to enhance the school as a learning community
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Education with experience in the noted areas
  • Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Knowledge of current instructional practices and curriculum
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency and current use of technologies to enhance and personalize learning
  • Knowledge of current pedagogy on teaching in an elementary classroom
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, reconciliation, and inclusion
  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Social-emotional competencies of self-awareness, empathy, flexibility, and relationship-building
  • Training in trauma-informed practices
  • Experience with positive behavior support
