At First Student, our Monitors/Aides exemplify our unwavering dedication to safety and exceptional customer service. The Monitor/Aide plays a crucial role in overseeing operations, managing daily activities, and assisting drivers in the secure execution of their routes.

Key Responsibilities of the Monitor/Aide:
  • Familiarizes with the route and stays vigilant to ensure the safety of passengers during transit
  • Reports behavioral issues and conditions at various stops to the driver
  • Assists in conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle
  • Supports students during the boarding and disembarking process
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with school staff, students, and parents
  • Participates in all safety and training sessions
  • Facilitates emergency evacuations from the bus, including the use of emergency exits
  • Operates service doors and navigates steps multiple times throughout the day
  • Maintains cleanliness inside the bus
  • Assists the driver as needed to safely maneuver the vehicle in reverse
