Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Representative to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Sales Representative for Pet Specialty Retailers, you will be responsible for managing a territory of pet specialty retail locations, building strong relationships with retailers, and driving sales growth for our client company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage visits to pet specialty retail locations within the territory to optimize effective interactions between the retailer and our client company.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with retailers, projecting our client's customer-centric business philosophy.
  • Analyze retailers' current product offerings, market position, pricing, staffing, and operating systems to present solutions that enhance their business and grow sales.
  • Present products that will succeed within the retailer's current situation, including new brands or additional items of existing brands.
  • Present promotions, trade show opportunities, special discounts, and provide staff training for products provided by our client.
  • Interface between retailers and manufacturers to facilitate communication and actions that enhance brand performance in each store.
  • Coordinate and execute ride-a-longs with manufacturer representatives throughout the territory.
  • Provide competitive field intelligence to both manufacturers and our management team when appropriate.
  • Interface between retailers and our internal accounting, purchasing, and logistics departments to facilitate the solution of any issues that impede successful business interaction.
  • Survey the territory for new pet specialty retailers and provide strong support for their launch.
  • Report to and take direction from our Sales Manager, working collaboratively to develop a territory sales plan, including sales and scheduling activities.
  • Complete timely sales reports, shortage and damage reporting, expense account reports, participate in weekly online sales meetings, and other meetings as directed by the Sales Manager.
  • Participate in exhibitor trade shows and weekend retailer events.
Requirements
  • Overnight travel required.
  • Outside sales experience, preferably in the pet specialty industry.
  • Strong ability to manage time and organize effectively.
  • Proven talent to build strong customer relationships, resolve issues, and overcome objections with diplomacy.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base Salary: $73,500
  • Bonus Potential: $6,500 per quarter if sales targets are met, and 3% on any sales above goal.
