As a Substance Abuse Counselor at Alouette Addictions Services Society, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals struggling with addiction. This position is temporary and requires a commitment of 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week.
Qualifications- Education: Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: 2 to 3 years in a similar role.
You will be working primarily in counseling centers, collaborating with a team of health care professionals to develop and implement effective treatment strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Consult with healthcare professionals to assess and refine treatment plans.
- Evaluate counseling effectiveness and patient outcomes.
- Conduct client interviews, prepare case histories, and assess individual challenges.
- Document observations and maintain accurate records.
- Utilize standard psychological assessments to gauge client needs.
- Develop personalized treatment plans and provide therapeutic services.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to promote personal and social development.
- Implement treatment strategies and perform necessary administrative duties.
- Engage with community agencies to identify additional support services.
- Deliver educational sessions on health promotion and injury prevention.
- Required certifications include Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification and Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Windows, and Word.
- Experience in various therapeutic approaches including cognitive therapy and crisis intervention.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and a client-focused approach. Attributes such as dependability, flexibility, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
