Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled DB2 z/OS Database Specialist to lead our team in delivering exceptional database solutions. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our DB2 z/OS databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead DB2 z/OS projects and initiatives, collaborating with experienced DB2 z/OS and IMS DBAs to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Work closely with DB2 z/OS System Programmers on DB2 z/OS and tools upgrades to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption to our operations.
  • Provide DBA support to critical applications that use DB2 z/OS and IMS databases/transactions, ensuring timely resolution of issues and optimal database performance.
  • Develop and maintain Host database and transaction management technology standards, ensuring consistency and best practices across our organization.
  • Coach application development and support teams on optimal use of database and transaction management technology, promoting standards and best practices.
  • Ensure databases are optimally designed to meet defined SLAs, maximize reuse of existing database structures, and minimize operational costs.
  • Implement and test database and environmental changes to ensure no impact on RBC systems and clients.
  • Provide 7X24 on-call support for database-related technical issues in development and production environments.
Requirements
  • Excellent technical knowledge of database and transaction management technologies and operating systems, with experience supporting critical applications that use DB2 z/OS databases.
  • Proven competence with data manipulation languages, data definition languages, physical database design, and application performance analysis & tuning.
  • Experience leading DB2 z/OS and Tools upgrade projects, with a strong understanding of DB2 z/OS and IMS databases.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts quickly, apply new knowledge as appropriate, and transfer knowledge to others.
  • Good coaching/mentoring skills, with the ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.
