About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Learning Engineering Manager to join our team at Loblaw Digital. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge machine learning models and algorithms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and direction to the ML development team, ensuring the successful delivery of new machine learning and AI features and capabilities.
  • Machine Learning Strategy: Develop and implement a long-term vision for machine learning and AI initiatives, aligning with the company's strategic and tactical goals.
  • Team Management: Cultivate a collaborative environment where team members' ideas are valued, and they are empowered to challenge assumptions and contribute to a dynamic atmosphere.
  • Project Management: Translate project goals and product roadmaps into organized technical tasks, collaborating with other EMs to ensure alignment.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Share knowledge and expertise with the team, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and related technologies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, data scientists, and software engineers to deliver groundbreaking solutions.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in software development, including substantial AI/ML experience, and several years in a leadership role managing and mentoring teams of engineers and data scientists.
  • Skills: Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java). Strong knowledge of AI/ML concepts, including advanced technologies like Gen AI, LLMs, and semantic search.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
