The ideal candidate will blend business acumen with robust technical expertise.
As the SVP of R&D, you will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, including your direct reports, upper management, integration partners, vendors, and our clientele. Your leadership will be crucial in shaping the vision and strategy of our business unit while ensuring that your team embodies our core values consistently. You will be accountable for motivating and guiding your team to deliver high-quality products efficiently.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Translating business objectives and product specifications into actionable development strategies.
- Guaranteeing that development initiatives are completed on schedule and within financial parameters.
- Providing strategic oversight, direction, and management of product development activities, along with technical contributions to the broader business strategy.
- Analyzing the competitive landscape to identify differentiators and opportunities.
- Overseeing both onsite and remote development teams.
- Facilitating communication and coaching for the professional advancement and leadership growth of the R&D team.
- Managing all financial aspects of the R&D department, including forecasting, reconciliation, analysis, and actionable insights.
- Fostering and enhancing communication channels across business units to ensure collaboration and the achievement of organizational objectives.
- Offering technical guidance and direction for all product development requirements across the organization.
- Regularly assessing the organizational structure, methodologies, and technologies to boost productivity and implementing necessary changes.
- Sharing insights on industry trends and emerging technologies that could provide a competitive edge.
- Managing strategic alliances with vendors and suppliers.
- Conceptualizing, developing, and driving the technological components of the product roadmaps to secure long-term success and minimize competitive attrition risks.
- Acting as an effective liaison between the customer base and various internal departments (e.g., Sales, Professional Services, and Support Services).
Qualifications We Seek:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- Over 10 years of management experience at the product or personnel level.
- Expertise in the operational and financial dimensions of a software enterprise.
- Experience with both cloud-based and on-premise software solutions.
- More than 10 years of experience with the Microsoft technology stack (.NET/C#/MSSQL Server).
- Demonstrated experience with the Agile methodology for developing and deploying solutions.
- Advanced analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Familiarity with APIs, security considerations, and troubleshooting.
- Proactive in engaging with stakeholders to clarify or uncover requirements.
- Understanding of general business financial principles.
- Experience managing multiple teams of engineers and business professionals.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly to both senior executives and technical specialists.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, coupled with a positive attitude.
- A collaborative team player who can effectively manage and prioritize tasks for themselves and their staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the healthcare sector or with healthcare software.
- Proven experience with additional technology stacks (Java, C++, Cobol).
- Scrum Master Certification.
- Experience managing an R&D profit and loss statement.
