Insurance Service Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Service Advisor to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to licensed advisors, Branch Managers, and Insurance Consultants within a defined region.
Key Responsibilities- Client Support
Act as the primary point of contact for licensed advisors in the region, providing guidance and support on in-force policy management activities, including training on policy details, reviewing statements and notices, and flagging potential issues.
Policy AnalysisProactively review in-force permanent life insurance policies at key milestones to identify potential issues that may impact client concerns. Collaborate with advisors and SWIS colleagues to determine the best approach to address issues and mitigate risks.
Agent of RecordTake on Agent of Record for orphaned policies within the region, serving as the primary contact for clients and managing their policies. This may also include working with select policies referred directly to SWIS by unlicensed advisors or business partners.
Request TriageTriage requests for licensed advisors to take over as Agent of Record on policies sold by external agents, collaborating with SWIS colleagues to ensure that new AORs will not increase risk exposure and are onboarded effectively.
Business DevelopmentIdentify opportunities to introduce an Insurance Consultant into an in-force policy where there may be new business potential, such as conversions, re-applications, or secondary sales. Work closely with ICs in the region to develop a process for partnering effectively.
Requirements- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience within the life insurance industry, coupled with a University degree (or equivalent education)
- LLQP is a requirement
- The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) designations are an asset
- Experience working with permanent life insurance and working knowledge of insurance carrier illustrations, software, and advisor portals is essential
- Knowledge of the estate planning uses for life insurance, including corporate owned life insurance strategies, is essential
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with sensitive and difficult client situations in a gracious and professional manner
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team
Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English in addition to French, as they will be working closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English, reporting to a manager from head office who is an English speaker, and/or serving an English-speaking clientele frequently.
