About the Role

The Department of History at Douglas College is seeking a qualified instructor to teach courses in Canadian, Indigenous, and American Histories. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering lectures, seminars, and other learning activities, as well as assessing and evaluating student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum-aligned lesson plans and assessments
  • Instruct students and facilitate learning through lectures, discussions, and other interactive activities
  • Evaluate student progress and provide feedback
  • Contribute to departmental and college-wide initiatives to promote excellence in teaching and learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • PhD in History from an accredited university (or doctoral candidate with a defence date established)
  • Experience teaching Canadian, Indigenous, and/or American Histories at the first-year level
  • Familiarity with historiographic and interpretive issues, including indigeneity, immigration, multiculturalism, and diversity
  • Commitment to undergraduate education and diversity, equity, and inclusion
