Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated member for our diagnostic team at Alberta Health Services. This role as a Diagnostic Sonographer I will involve working in a dynamic environment where you will engage with both inpatients and outpatients. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient-centered care, fostering connections with patients and contributing positively to their health outcomes.
Role Overview:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting a variety of ultrasound examinations to assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of medical conditions.
- Preparing patients for procedures, reviewing their medical history, and explaining the ultrasound process.
- Obtaining high-quality diagnostic images and taking appropriate initial actions in response to any abnormal findings.
- Supporting clinical diagnosis and patient management while maintaining a high standard of care and safety.
You may also assist Radiologists, Cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals during specialized procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- An extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or certification in Diagnostic Sonography from a recognized institution.
- Active or eligible registration with Sonography Canada and/or the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in performing specialized procedures such as:
- Transesophageal Echocardiograms
- Pericardiocentesis
- Stress Testing
- Contrast and Bubble Studies
Pediatric experience and ARDMS Pediatric Echo certification are also advantageous. Familiarity with advanced ultrasound equipment and reporting systems is preferred.
