Position Overview:
The South Shore Regional Hospital (SSRH) is seeking a qualified individual for a temporary appointment in the field of diagnostic radiology. This role may extend up to 6 months or longer, depending on the needs of the hospital. The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of 5 radiologists to deliver comprehensive diagnostic imaging services across multiple facilities.

About SSRH:
SSRH serves as a primary and secondary care hospital, recognized as a district trauma center with 85 inpatient beds. The hospital encompasses various units including medical, surgical, intensive care, obstetrics, and mental health services.

Services Provided:

  1. Ambulatory care
  2. Anesthesiology
  3. Cancer care and support services
  4. Continuing care
  5. Diagnostic imaging (CT scans, mammography, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound)
  6. Electrocardiography
  7. Emergency medicine
  8. General medicine
  9. Internal medicine
  10. Intensive care unit (ICU)
  11. Medical and surgical units
  12. Mental health and addictions services
  13. Midwifery program
  14. Nutrition and diabetic counseling
  15. Obstetrics and gynecology services
  16. Occupational therapy
  17. Palliative care
  18. Physiotherapy
  19. Plastic surgery
  20. Psychiatry
  21. Respiratory therapy
  22. Social work
  23. Surgical intermediate care unit (SIMCU)
  24. Telehealth services
  25. Walk-in clinic
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide diagnostic imaging services, including CT, ultrasound, x-ray, mammography, and nuclear medicine.
  2. Perform various image-guided procedures.
  3. Accountable to the Zone Department of Radiology for professional duties and quality assurance.
  4. Offer hospital and on-call support as necessary.
  5. Engage in additional administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Expected Working Hours:
This is a locum and/or short-term appointment with an on-call requirement.

Qualifications Required:
  1. Eligibility for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  2. Certification with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
  3. Eligibility for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC).
