Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Senior Project Architect to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Ensure the overall design vision established by the Project Designer is effectively translated into detailed documentation.
  • Oversee the design process from initial concepts through to construction administration, ensuring consistency and quality in execution.
  • Manage technical resolutions and coordination for specific project segments.
  • Collaborate with the Specification Writer to develop and align specifications with drawings.
  • Review completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for precision.
  • Establish strategies for document production and organize data within a Building Information Model (BIM).
  • Set up project team software parameters and uphold standards.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with the Project Leadership Team.
  • Facilitate communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure comprehensive project requirements are met.
  • Ensure construction documentation adheres to quality assurance and best practice standards.
  • Supervise the preparation of technical drawings by junior architects or technicians.
  • Act as a team leader on selected projects.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced staff, participating in professional development and review sessions.
  • Promote sustainable work practices to foster a green workplace.
  • Commit to exceptional client service.

Client Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain a trusting relationship with client leadership.
  • Communicate regularly with client representatives to confirm design requirements, review progress, and deliver final presentations.

Team Collaboration:

  • Receive project direction from the Principal in Charge and technical guidance from the RBU Technical Principal.
  • Coordinate and track shared electronic documentation with project teams, clients, and consultants.
  • Assist in planning and executing work, making necessary adaptations to complete working drawing sets.
  • Engage with municipal building departments and other governing agencies to facilitate approvals.
  • Draft reports and memos to consultants and vendors regarding changes and resolutions.
  • Provide technical support and project communications as needed.
  • Participate in site visits, field reviews, and project meetings, preparing and coordinating contractor schedules and submissions.
  • Support the Specification Writer in researching products and selecting materials relevant to the project.
  • Involve in specification setup and drawing coordination, ensuring adherence to HOK Standards.
  • Offer support to team members in specific market or discipline areas.
  • Contribute to team meetings to address project issues, coordination, and schedule adherence.
  • Review project costs and budgets, ensuring compliance with schedules.
  • Document minutes from consultant coordination meetings.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D presentation drawings and models for client and project team review.
  • Integrate sustainable design solutions into projects.

Business Development:

  • Engage in business development discussions with team leaders to identify project, client, or market opportunities.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of design, construction methodologies, and material applications.
  • Advanced understanding of architectural building systems.
  • Expertise in sustainability practices, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Design Process (IDP).
  • Strong familiarity with QA/QC processes and building codes.
  • Proficiency in hand and CAD drafting, as well as Revit.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and graphic design tools is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Capable of meeting deadlines effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent experience required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed Architect with current registration in the applicable region.
  • LEED credential required within six months of employment.

Additional Information:

  • Must possess or be eligible for Reliability Security Clearance.
  • Travel and overtime may be necessary.
  • Job duties and requirements may be adjusted at the discretion of HOK.
