About the Role

At American Iron & Metal, we are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as a Shredder Cleaner. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that involves maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our shredding equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain shredding equipment, including conveyor systems, screens, magnets, and other components, to ensure optimal performance and prevent contamination.
  • Remove unwanted materials, such as non-metallic objects, dirt, and other contaminants, from the shredder and its surrounding areas to prevent damage and maintain efficiency.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and other safety practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shredder area, ensuring the removal of debris, proper waste disposal, and general housekeeping tasks.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an industrial cleaning or maintenance role is preferred.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, and manual dexterity.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to spot and remove contaminants from the shredder equipment effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills to interact with supervisors, operators, and other team members.
