Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Trust Fund Accountant to join our team at People Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions of trust funds for select key clients, ensuring timely and accurate record keeping while complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.

The Senior Trust Fund Accountant will:

  • Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain up-to-date GL transactions to ensure seamless financial management.
  • Reconcile bank accounts to ensure accuracy and detect any discrepancies.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate outstanding items, and develop recommendations to resolve.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as required by clients.
  • Prepare government remittances, monitor cash flow, and prepare bank transfers to ensure efficient financial management.
  • Prepare cash flow, investment, and other reports as required by clients.
  • Prepare working papers and assist during annual audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Evaluate and handle client-related inquiries in a timely manner to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Handle day-to-day accounting duties for clients, including developing Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators to monitor overall efficiency and performance.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of working in an office environment with a focus on accounting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, including financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Maintaining a high standard of care and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Excellent software skills, including MS Office applications with intermediate to advanced level in MS Excel.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset to work effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Strong knowledge of trust laws, fiduciary responsibilities, and tax regulations.
