Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Speech Language Pathologist. Relocation assistance may be available.

VCH is seeking a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to become part of the Long Term Care team, providing services at designated facilities in North Vancouver, BC. We encourage you to explore this opportunity to contribute to our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a comprehensive range of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Prepare client documentation, educate clients and their families, offer counseling and consultation, and deliver presentations.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary team discussions, risk management initiatives, and research activities, while mentoring new staff and Speech-Language Pathology students.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of British Columbia.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive understanding of evidence-based practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various healthcare disciplines and their contributions to client care.
  • Solid grasp of research methodologies and processes.
  • Basic understanding of adult education principles, techniques, and tools.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating relevant computer systems.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to assess and manage urgent situations involving clients, families, or residents.
  • Capability to create and deliver effective presentations.
  • Proven ability to provide valuable consultation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with other healthcare professionals.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the job responsibilities.

Additional Information

The work schedule, including days off and work location, may vary based on operational needs and the provisions of the Collective Agreement and applicable laws. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
