Position Summary: The School Bus Monitor plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and orderly environment on the bus. This position involves overseeing daily operations, assisting drivers, and ensuring that all passengers are safe and comfortable during their journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Familiarize yourself with the designated route and remain vigilant to monitor the safety of passengers throughout the trip.
- Effectively communicate any behavioral issues or conditions at various stops to the driver.
- Assist in conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure operational safety.
- Aid students during the loading and unloading process to facilitate a smooth transition.
- Collaborate and communicate with school staff, students, and parents to foster a supportive environment.
- Attend all safety and training meetings to stay updated on best practices.
- Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including utilizing emergency exits when necessary.
- Open and close service doors and navigate steps multiple times throughout the day.
- Maintain cleanliness inside the bus to ensure a pleasant atmosphere for passengers.
- Assist the driver in safely maneuvering the vehicle in reverse when required.
