About the Role

As a Data Scientist Intern at Magna International, you will play a key role in supporting our Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives. Specifically, you will focus on optimizing our manufacturing processes for exterior trim parts. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets to provide insights and solutions that enhance our manufacturing operations, including co-extrusion, assembly, and molding.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Work with the Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Technology teams to achieve goals set out by the facility.
  2. Develop and implement data-driven models and algorithms that leverage machine learning and AI techniques to improve operational efficiency, quality, and productivity in co-extrusion, assembly, and molding.
  3. Employ statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques to identify trends, patterns, and areas for process improvement.
  4. Clean, preprocess, and validate large datasets related to co-extrusion, assembly, and molding to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  5. Conduct supervised experiments, A/B testing, and perform statistical analysis to measure the impact of proposed solutions on manufacturing operations.
  6. Communicate findings and results in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders, including management, engineers, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, with a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques, deep learning frameworks, and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is desirable.
  • Working with data tools and protocols such as Kepware, MQTT, and Mosquito.
