Tax Manager

As a Tax Manager - Corporate Planning, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance and planning for both sales and income taxes in Canada and the U.S. This includes cash forecasting, optimizing cash and debt levels, and managing foreign exchange exposures and risks.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise the preparation of sales tax returns (approximately 50 per month)
- Liaise with auditors to ensure compliance with tax regulations
- Prepare federal and provincial/state income tax returns, as well as tax working papers for audited financial statements
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities
- Evaluate and adjust transfer pricing models and practices to ensure compliance with tax regulations
- Update and improve short and longer-term cash forecasting models to ensure accurate cash flow projections
- Supervise the cash applications team to ensure timely and accurate cash application
- Forecast, monitor, and manage cash flow and debt requirements to ensure optimal capital structure
- Develop and implement hedging strategies to manage foreign exchange exposures and risks
- Supervise one manager and tax staff of one, as well as cash applications staff of four
- Focus on staff development and career planning to ensure the growth and success of team members
- University degree, with a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation highly preferred
- Minimum 5-10 years of post-designation experience in tax and treasury
- Knowledge of Canadian and US income taxes, transfer pricing, and corporate experience
- Advanced Excel modeling skills and strong experience with hedging
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
