Tiercon is looking for skilled, self-motivated, and experienced individuals who are passionate about the automotive field to join our team as a Paint Application Technician.

Job Summary & Reporting Structure:

In this role, reporting to the Paint Technical Supervisor, the Paint Application Technician will be responsible for overseeing, diagnosing, and enhancing paint application methodologies. This position includes direct accountability for programming robotic systems, assisting in the trials of new programs, and optimizing painting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain ABB robotic programs, making adjustments to enhance the quality of the robotic painting process.
  • Conduct programming, software upkeep, and electrical integration tasks for the paint line, while also assisting with mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Support program launches through Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), process trials, setup, rack design, and process modifications to ensure timely and efficient launches.
  • Manage the Access database for robotic programs.
  • Address downtime incidents and perform checks to monitor and sustain process control on the paint line.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement Teams to contribute to company-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing production metrics, such as first-time yield rates and profitability.
  • Establish standards, create procedures, and maintain checklists for data entry.
  • Develop tracking systems to assess the effectiveness of ongoing programs.
  • Maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) on selected processes.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff and paint representatives to enhance the quality of painted products.
  • Work alongside the Lead Process Engineer to conduct trials on new technologies, document results, and make recommendations for implementation if feasible.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Electromechanical, Automation, or Mechanical Engineering.

Training: Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, Design of Experiments, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Paint Process & Application Automation Controls PLC.

Skills: Proven experience in operating and programming robotics, mechanical aptitude, and familiarity with CAD software.

Experience: Experience in paint application is a significant advantage, along with a solid understanding of plastic and metal manufacturing processes. A minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
