Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

At Vancouver Airport Authority, we are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our Fleet Maintenance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of mobile and portable equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airport facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair emergency response and operations vehicles and equipment, including fire trucks, air stairs, and emergency response light vehicles.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on summer operations vehicles and equipment, such as mowers, backhoes, excavators, and road maintenance equipment.
  • Ensure the maintenance and repair of winter operations vehicles and equipment for snow and ice control.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work areas and facilities to ensure efficient operations.
  • Lead activities and share knowledge with assigned apprentices.
Requirements:
  • Three years' recent, related experience, supplemented by the completion of a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize safety.
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 preferred, minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement).
